This blog is for posting my letterboxing related activities and information. It will consist of trip reports, noteworthy accomplishments, particularly memorable days, event wrap-ups, running totals, etc. Basically, if it relates to letterboxing in some way and I felt it worth recording, it is here.

It is also (temporarily) a work in progress. I went through my logbook and made a list of things I "would have written about" had this actually started from day one. What that means is the blog is live starting in August 2007 but most older posts have been (or are in the process of being) recreated based on my memories so may be lacking some specifics. Also keep in mind that because of this some "new" posts may drop into their proper place in the past and you may miss them if you don't check the archive occasionally. Ideally, I will only be doing this backlogging for a couple months but could miss things that are not discovered until AFTER I turn this loose on the world and someone mentions it to me. Anyway, I hope you occasionally find something worth reading here...

Dec-07: Backlog Update - All old posts through August 2005 are done but will not show up on the AQ blog feed due to their old dates. I will try to get the next "year" done soon and hopefully after that, they will be new enough to hit the feed list.

Feb-08: The old monthly stats have been temporarily removed until I catch up the stories since I figure people would rather see them appear on the AQ Blog feed, even when old, than stats only.

P.S. Why the charts and graphs? I was a science major in college and like them so wanted to make some. Yes, that is a lame answer. If they bore you, just skip them. They will appear on the last day of every month and my "boxing year (August-31)" with no other info or anything to read so you won't miss anything.

Bane of My Existence

A Tisket, a Tasket

March 4, 2006:
Artemis and I attempted to find and had no luck.

March 11, 2006:
hawkeye, another very experienced boxer, also could not find it so we compared notes and agreed it must be missing.

June 17, 2006:
Someone with the trailname 'dededolphin' logged it on AQ as THEIR ONLY FIND, EVER!!! I chalked this up to them making a mistake and not selecting 'Attempted'.

August 30, 2006:
Granny and Paw Paw, two other very experienced boxers, also logged it as found. I could not assume they made an error so actually contacted them to make sure and see if I was missing anything obvious. They did find it and it was where the clues led, though they said it was still well hidden.

October 9, 2006:
The Good News Gang also found this box and after a couple of emails, I was sent a PICTURE of the box in the ground. The angle was not great but I at least had some references to look for while in the woods.

November 17, 2006, December 20, 2006, March 16, 2007:
I actually made some stops on the way home from work (I come that way about once a month) to take a look for this box but still struggled. Part of the problem is that the picture I was working with had some green briers in it and they are not green in winter so still had no luck.

February, 2007:
VictoriAnna has retired and put her boxes up for adoption. I went ahead and "officially" picked this one up even though I have sorta been taking (not) care of it for a while. And even though it is mine and I have still struggled to find it, I refuse to retire it since I know it has been found, in spite of my failed attempts.

April 14, 2007:
Scooters Mom was in the park looking for a different box and actually stopped by this one, checked its status (they had found it way back in 2004) and sent me more pictures. The perspective on these was broader than the previous pictures and I think I finally have a chance!!!

April 27, 2007:
I am at it again, armed with my new picture and I FOUND THE STUPID THING!!! It was EXACTLY where the clues said but just about the most natural looking hide I have ever seen. Had I not been holding the picture and trying to match it to trees, I still don't think I would have found it.

May 28, 2007:
I finally returned with my logbook and sig stamp to make it official. I hate this box. ::grin::
